Testimonials

HMCE 2011 in Brussels was an amazing experience for our young delegation! We were truly impressed with the organization and professionalism of the entire program. The chairs were helpful throughout every step of the conference. They were engaging, knowledgeable, and friendly and even as we are back at home, our kids continue to think about them! The chairs effectively helped lead the debates, encourage the delegates and establish a comfortable but also professional environment. In addition, the chairs were very patient with every question, concern and request made by the students (and faculty advisors!). Since we came with many new and young delegates this year, the welcoming environment was essential and greatly appreciated by everyone!

HMCE has been a wonderful opportunity for our students to leave their island and to benefit from an international exposure. It offered a platform for our students to explore their potential, develop their public-speaking skills, discover different cultures amongst others and become aware that they can also be part of an international community.

The 3-day trip wasn’t only productive on an educational and academic level, but also on a human level. New friendships were formed, new cultures were discovered. It turned out to be a deep, unique experience engraved in our memories forever.

Coming back to reality is actually quite hard. Indeed, for three days we felt like the fate of the U.S. was in our hands, as we tried our best to play the roles that were allocated to us. However, apart from the burning debates, our days were also marked by breakout sessions which were for many of us an occasion to interact with other students, and even with Harvard students, whose kindness and friendliness were remarkable… This Congress was in my opinion a unique opportunity to discover the United States’ voting system in the Congress, as well as the influence of NGOs such as the CATO Institute or the Heritage Foundation. I recommend everyone to take part in these amazing debates, which will stay one of the best experiences I have ever had.

The extraordinary part was that we were not only able to talk to people from the whole world but we could also meet Harvard students. We all found this experience very enriching. We even had the occasion to hear from a high representative of the EU foreign affairs in the closing ceremony.

These debates were both serious and interesting, and they were always conducted in a good spirit. The most interesting thing was that by the last night, we Franklin students were speaking even to each other in English only.
