President's Letter

Dear Delegates, Parents, and Faculty Advisors:

It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome you to Harvard Model Congress Europe 2019! My name is Aren Rendell, and I am honored to serve as the 2019 conference president. I hope you find this website helpful. If you have any questions about anything you see here, do not hesitate to reach out to our Director of Communications, Jessie Rodriguez.

By way of introduction, I am a Harvard senior originally from Omaha, a beautiful city in the Midwestern state Nebraska. At Harvard, I study Economics, spend my free time discussing politics and government, and live in Kirkland House (one of Harvard’s twelve upperclassman “houses;” ask any of our staff about Harvard’s housing system!). Many of you may know me from my past HMCE roles: I staffed House Energy & Commerce in 2016, was our Director of Communications in 2017, and served as Vice President last year.

We look forward to working alongside you in Madrid next March. Our team of nearly 40 committee chairs has begun preparations for this conference, and our outstanding 2019 Executive Board is committed to cultivating a transformative educational experience for every delegate. You also may have noticed (or will soon notice) some of our Executive Board’s other work for this conference: over the past few months, we have worked hard to unveil a new website and registration platform, accept payments in Euros to make paying fees even more seamless for our attendees, and to create educational materials to help first-time delegates/schools prepare for the conference. All of these changes were made with you — the Delegates, Parents, and Faculty Advisors of HMCE — in mind, and we hope you are as excited about them as we are.

To those returning, we are grateful for your continued dedication to this conference. To our new HMCE members, we are excited to welcome you to the family.

With gratitude,

Aren Rendell
