A Time When the World Almost Ended

As of March 15th, 2025, there is a missile crisis between the USSR and the USA.

The USSR has stationed ballistic missiles in Cuba, a stone throw from the one of the world’s strongest nuclear powers, the USA, making the whole world nervous! In response, the USA has created an ocean blockade around Cuba. 

There are discussions between the countries. President John. F. Kennedy has asked Nikita Khrushchev to withdraw their missiles from Cuba. In response, the USA was asked to remove their missiles stationed in France and Italy. 

Showing signs of empathy, President John. F. Kennedy has now agreed to allow humanitarian aid to pass through the blockade but to make sure no weapons are passing through. The president of the USSR mentioned in an interview that “I want peace and am willing to help our ally Cuba in any way required”.  Nikita Khrushchev also mentioned that the USSR feels that the US is violating human rights which is wrong and is not cooperating to attain peace. While formal peace talks haven’t started between the two countries, it is going to be hard for both the countries to come to a consensus as both have different interests. The president of Cuba mentioned that John F. Kennedy cannot be trusted and that they will have to agree to all their terms. 

The world waits with bated breath hoping that this crisis does not escalate and peace finally prevails.
